Hello! I’m Jose Torres, the Lead Spanish Interpreter for Translations in Motion. I’ve been a Spanish interpreter for approximately seven years, spending all that time as part of the Translations in Motion family. I’m dedicated to providing interpreting services to individuals and businesses of diverse backgrounds.

Focusing on English & Spanish Interpretation

My interpreting responsibilities include English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English. I complete interpretation in a variety of ways, including in-person, over-the-phone and via videoconferencing platforms. Depending on your needs, interpretation can be simultaneous or consecutive.

Years of Interpretation Experience

My position requires me to interpret in a way that makes sense to your audience. I offer broad experience in different niches and industries, giving me the ability to articulate even the most complex concepts. In the past, I’ve had several opportunities to work in fields such as manufacturing, administration and more.

I’ve also taught technical and English language classes and performed hundreds of translations from English to Spanish. My experience coupled with my passion for my work allow me to deliver the highest-quality interpretation services.

Who Am I?

I was born and raised in San Jose, Costa Rica. During my studies and professional career, I’ve had the opportunity to live in other countries such as Guatemala, Nicaragua and the US. I’ve also traveled to many Latin American countries and other latitudes as well.

My wonderful family includes my wife of 35 years, two children, a son-in-law and two grandchildren. We all currently live in beautiful, and sometimes cold, Minnesota, with an extended family living in Costa Rica.

  • A fun fact others may not know about me: When I first moved to Minnesota, many people asked me if I had done something wrong in Costa Rica. The truth is, we love Minnesota. It’s beautiful and we enjoy the five seasons (winter comes twice here, you see).
  • Favorite book: “Effective Negotiating” by Dr. Chester Karrass
  • Favorite movie: I greatly enjoy “To Sir, With Love” as well as “Like Water for Chocolate”
  • Favorite drink: Prosecco
  • Favorite music: Jazz
  • Favorite travel spot: Punta Leona, Costa Rica, and Bayfield, Wisconsin
